Why Is This Happening?!

Hello random people who read blogs!

This blog was created by and for me pretty much, but you can read it too. Food is something that everyone struggles with, whether its not making healthy decisions or trying to afford organic food or simply be conscious of what you put into your body on a daily basis. I was not a healthy eater until I entered into my 20s and even now, I am becoming more aware of what food groups I seem to be ignoring more than others. It is for this reason (and because I get bored easily and need a new project) that I have decided to quit my current eating habits cold turkey and begin life anew again as a vegan for an entire month (at the very least) and see what the hell happens. This blog is going to be used for the recordings of my thoughts and of course my struggles, of which I see many.

This blog will also follow not only my conversion and its effects it has on my life, but record the difficulties of making the transition. In my preparation for this event I have already run into some troubles. Today I went to Barnes & Nobles to look at their selection of vegan cookbooks as well as to purchase "Vegan for Dummies" or something similar to that title. After standing in the "Cookbook" and "Diet" section for around half an hour searching with glazed eyes, I found nothing. Either there are basically no books written about being vegan or vegan cooking, or this particular B&N has an incredibly crappy cookbook selection. This really surprised be, because unless you are born with vegan parents, which is unlikely for someone my age and people older than me, you are most likely to make the vegan transition later in life. And unless you are surrounded by other vegans, how are you suppose to gain help in the steps it takes to becoming vegan? I am very aware of this amazing thing called the internet (obviously because I'm blogging), but it stumped me nevertheless that with all the trendiness of the Green Movement and with eating healthy now becoming "fashionable" there is little literature on veganism.

Future plans in preparation:
1. Join a vegan "support group" - if they exist
2. Go to Whole Foods in attempt to see if they have any helpful literature.
